Homebuyer Down Payment Assistance

Beginning March 17, 2008, First Federal has access to grants of up to $5,000 per homebuyer for down payment and closing cost assistance. Eligibility depends on a family’s income based upon their county of residence. Income limits by selected county and family size are:

• Anderson County--$48,640 (one or two persons) $55,936 (3 or more persons)
• Franklin County--$48,960 (one or two persons) $56,304 (3 or more persons)
• Scott County--$59,328 (one or two persons)$69,216 (3 or more persons)
• Shelby County--$47,120 (one or two persons) $54,188 (3 or more persons)
• Woodford County--$49,440 (one or two persons) $56,856 (3 or more persons)

The program is not limited to first time homebuyers. In order to apply for the funds, a purchase contract on a house must be presented, and the loan application must be approved. Since the funds are in the form of a grant, they do not need to be repaid as long as the purchaser remains in the home for five years or longer.
